Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and take you where the chances of seeing the aurora are best. Our experienced Northern Lights hunter checks the aurora forecasts throughout the tour, and if the lights appear on the way, we will stop to watch them.

At a cosy cottage between two lakes we light a campfire and grill sausages in the traditional Finnish style (vegetarian option on request when booking). Snacks and hot drinks keep you warm while the guide tells stories about Lapland and the Northern Lights. When the sky comes alive, the show is just a few steps from the fire — and the guide will help you take great photos.

• Weather matters. Clear skies are the first condition for seeing the aurora, so the guide always looks for the area with the best chances.
• Dress warmly. Layered clothing, two pairs of socks, warm boots and gloves — it is easier to take a layer off than to be cold.
